Morzine ski and snowboard resort

Morzine is a large traditional style alpine town that now forms one of the largest winter resorts in the Portes du Soleil ski and snowboard region. Linked directly with Avoriaz, Morzine has the benefit of connecting into the vast Portes du Soleil ski and snowboard area whilst also managing to keep a traditional ambiance.

Morzine’s lower altitude often means snow is in shorter supply during the late part of the season but easy access to higher altitude runs ensures that this is never an issue. Morzine’s proximity to Geneva makes it an obvious choice for shorter skiing, snowboarding and telemarking trips and holidaymakers have been coming to Morzine for around 100 years. Accommodation in Morzine is mainly in hotels and catered chalets all built in traditional Savoyarde style.

Morzine resort ski lift system

Morzine is at the centre of the Portes Du Soleil winter sports region that is one of the largest connected ski and snowboarding areas in the world. The lift system extends over into the winter resorts of Champery, Les Crosets and Champoussin all situated in Switzerland. On the French side, Avoriaz, Les Gets and Chatel are all easily reached by competent skiers, snowboarders and telemarkers. A qualified ski instructor, snowboard teacher or mountain guide will let you make the most of this extensive region.

Morzine, France

A bustling market town, Morzine has been developing as a ski resort since the early 1900’s. The wooded slopes that surround Morzine feed a number of mountain streams into the fast flowing river that runs through the centre of town. Shops and restaurants in Morzine are plentiful and the main street is a busy mix of sports stores, supermarkets and boutiques. One of the appeals of Morzine is that it remains a traditional town in its own right regardless of the huge growth in tourism, you can still see signs of agriculture in the town of Morzine and in the surrounding valleys.
